Let's just put that on pause a minute. Resource Recovery Centre. Who the fuck are they kidding? It's a tip. It's a fucking rubbish dump. You take your rubbish there and you fucking dump it. Why does that process need to be dressed up with euphemistic PR bollocks? It's like having a big poo. Calling it something more marketing-friendly ain't gonna make you more or less inclined to do it, it's kinda a requirement of continued function. The new generation of dumps, though, are pretty average, with each type of waste categorised and streamed according to where it goes and what needs to be done with it, and hell hath no fury like a council munter finding out you've put non-branched green waste in with the branched green waste. They charge you money to dump stuff and bleat at you when you dump it even marginally imprecisely. Bollocks to that. We used to have an old-skool council rubbish dump - basically just a hole in the ground where you chucked stuff in - a few kays out of the Broom on an old sand-mining lease and that was awesome, like an adventure playground for mischievous youth.
The old man's HT Kingswood 253 V8 ute was retired from duty there, though much of the good gear (like the disc braked front end) found its way into his HG panelvan. Another day which lives in the memory (for other reasons), we found a stack of hastily turfed girlie magazines (someone obviously just got a girlfriend, or at the very least, someone's bedroom just got cleaned out by his mum).In conclusion: V8s and tits - why rubbish dumps were cool.
The point of all the deforestation in the backyard was, in the immediate term, to make the house more saleable by actually making it possible to walk around the garden without getting touched up like Macaulay Culkin at the Neverland Ranch by random bits of foliage. This, in the real estate game, is termed Adding Value. I would term it Not Being A Complete Fucktard, but it seems that the real estate game is full of complete fucktards who miss even the most obvious plot points ref. how to present a house for sale, judging by some of the rubbish currently being listed. Indeed, some of the aforementioned comprehensive cockbugles are allegedly professional real estate agents. However, anyone who's ever had anything to do with a real estate agent in any professional context, whether as a tenant being alternately ignored and persecuted by their property manager, an investment property owner being fed a line of bullshit by the same property manager, a potential buyer being jacked into a Dutch auction solely against themselves, or a prospective seller having an Industrial Revolution's worth of smoke blown up their arse about the prospects of a quick and profitable sale in a market showing less signs of life than Anna Nicole Smith, the concept that professional real estate industry members by and large may in fact be an all-inclusive farrago of douche-felchers will probably not shock or astound.
That said, our dude seems to go a'ight. We've had peeps through the place already, and the actual Marketing Campaign (other than the website listing) doesn't even kick off until the weekend. The photos of the place on the interdweeb look fucking choice - hell I'd buy the place again if we were able to fit us plus our forthcoming newbie into it somewhere - and they've been good personages to deal with. OK it's barely three days into proceedings but it's promising.
The agency we eventually went for goes all-in on the flashy shiny marketing - doesn't cost more than Their Competitors but looks a hell of a lot better - and our realo (himself very flashy and shiny, that's his black Audi A6 in the street at right) is very big on taking lots of photos with his suitably exxy digital SLR. Though a glance at his CV indicates point-and-shoot was his thing in a previous career - ex NZ Army, then ex NZ Police Armed Offenders Squad - leading to two conclusions: (1) Lerm may have long-lost rellos over here and (2) tyrekickers and timewasters will likely be dealt to with extreeeeeeeme prejudice. Which we like here at the World of Bollocks.
Though when he says he's a 'professionally trained negotiator' one does wonder whether this is in the field of closing real estate deals or talking heavily armed munters out of heavily barricaded remote farmhouses and into the nice clear open field so the AOS boys can take him down.Either way I'm not expecting arguments.
The Doctor is OUT. As you'd expect from a 'motivated vendor on the move'. Sounds like I'm on a diet of prunes and Metamucil for Christ's sake.

Over here, they call it "Curb Appeal." Hopefully the Audi made it into the brochure? That classes the place up.
We have plans on selling our place in the next couple of years. In renovating our bathroom, replacing the tub with a tiled shower that runs the complete width, I'm thinking of listing it as "the perfect shower to have sex in."
I'll probably never be able to prove it, but sales isn't about proof, is it?
By the way, the woman in the dump, she's kind of sexy. I'm seriously concerned that this is revealing a fetish I never knew about. I'm hoping her beauty just overshadows her surroundings, but I'm concerned there's more to it than that.
She dirty....in a dirrrrty way.
More Gold!

Sorry for quoting such a long para - but that spledid piece of invective really deserved it!
Best wishes for your sale.
"I'll probably never be able to prove it, but sales isn't about proof, is it?"
From the man who sells parts to nuclear power plants!!!! I hope proof has something to do with your industry - it certainly doesn't with mine.
The girl's some English page 3 slapperette - I think it was a promo shot for a British TV series where 'celebrities' (in the loosest possible usage of the term) had to live off a garbage dump for X number of weeks - though I think they actually got food, medical care, somewhere to sleep etc so it was pretty much Scrapheap Challenge without the building of random mechanical shit out of old car engines and lengths of copper pipe. Re her slightly disturbing attractiveness, not sure whether it's the surroundings or more likely the little pony she's riding - there's probably a line there about dirty girls who like smacking the pony in public but I'll let it go through to the 'keeper. Re the shower - the only problem is that like any claim you make about a property potential buyers will want to see it demonstrated, or more likely will want to try it out themselves at the open home, and you don't want to be cleaning that stuff out of the plughole immediately afterwards.
Lerm - cheers - the bigger problem might be finding somewhere larger that we actually want to move into! I can see why there's a lot of attention on our place so quickly, there's fuck-all decent about at present.
Tips. Fucken grew up on them. Well, not literally... but you get the point. Parents were one half hippy drifter (Mum), one half tight-arse soldier (Dad). That often saw us kids trawling through small town dumps on weekends for anything we could "recycle" (if Mum took us) or "pinch" (if Dad took us).
Best dumps were the ones at military villages, where the army would also dump its surplus gear. I remember thinking I'd died and done to heaven when my brother and I stumbled on to a pile of just out of date 10-man ration packs ones. Lived off those suckers for an entire summer holiday. Well, that and prunes to combat the inevitable backing up which comes with wolfing down expired tinned cheese, tubes of condensed milk and "cereal biscuits" which could crack skulls.
Good times.
We used to go to a lot of army disposals stores (same stuff, marginally more hygienic). Good place to get camping gear. Big fuck-off industrial strength stuff you could march across Belgium with. Used to go camping quite a bit as a young fullah, those same sorts of 'rations' (concrete biscuits, bully beef etc) are fairly familiar.
Selling a house, packing and moving, a wee bairn on the way? All at once? You love pain don't you.
Isn't it amazing how the things that cause us to question the present restrictive gun laws and shooting of people, also give us the inspiration for some of our personal bests in terms of writing rant blogs?
Resource Recovery Centre....
you are dead right. The butchery of the English language continues.
Good luck with the sale.
Another old Jspace NatalieV is also selling her house, Coincidence?
Hmmm, it sounds like you agent is either going to work for you or against you.
He could either "subtly" convince people that they have to buy the place and pay too much for it.
Or he could twist your arm and convince you that you should sell to his mate for half market value.
Good luck!
Hmmm. We could use his 'professional skills' this evening. Some fucker has torn up all the leaflets on the For Sale sign and stuffed them down the side of our house. It's probably arsewit untethered tweenie fucktards on school holidays, or someone with a set against the agent or agency - we don't have any probs with any of our neighbours - but you can't help feel like it's a personal attack.
Then again... I remember well the many nights Dr Craigos and I staggered back from the RE and made a point of unearthing and dismembering any and all examples of Doug Dickhead Real Estate signage anywhere along Uncle Fred Schonell Drive. And the time we 'borrowed' a large real estate sign which very verbosely outlined all the saleable features of the property - largely in order to move all the letters around to construct messages in tribute for our erstwhile flatmate the King of Seed, who was presented with our drunken creation in the morning. With no thought, of course, for the feelings or frustrations of the actual property owners. So maybe, just maybe, it's just a good old-fashioned karma smackdown.
If karma is in play, then when I try to sell my place, there will be a large "Cobb County Animal Shelter" sign in our front yard (I may have put a similar sign in front of a sorority house in college...not realizing the possible repercussions if the sorority found out that a member of my fraternity did such a thing). But, regardless, it was funny.
Lermontov, I'm always honest when it comes to the nuclear sales, providing crap to that industry can actually get you put in jail (I'm not joking).
"industrial strength stuff you could march across Belgium with": You make it sound like marching across Belgium was a big deal. Most European superpowers have never had much difficulty with such an endeavor.
Yeah, I just figured every army going had had a bash at marching across Belgium - Flanders fields are full of Australians, Kiwis and various other nationalities - and the standard of Belgian hotelieries is such that a few nights under canvas might not be unappealing. So long as the locals don't mistake the tent for one of their disturbingly popular open-air streetside urinals. Hang on, this isn't a bus stop...
If going into Czechoslovakia is like going into Wisconsin, then going into Belgium must be like going into Rhode Island.
You know those German soldiers in Stalingrad (for example, my grandfather's cousin Ernst Georg) must've really hated the easy detail of their counterparts in Belgium (for example, my grandfather's other cousin Heinz). Well, pre-Dec 1944 anyway. At that point, Belgium kind of became a sucky place to be.
Damn, that's a fine looking girl riding that hobby horse...
There's a hobby horse in that pic?

Big ups to Officer Armed Offenderer - the marketing was the bomb and his negotiating skills turned out to be just as weapons-grade as advertised.
What did your "negotiator" do? Threaten the buyer using Russian Mafia tactics if he didn't buy?
"I vill keel your family vith you vatching eeff you don't buy zeess house!"
Cash buyer, unconditional? Didn't try to use, umm, "Hebrew negotiating tactics" to knock a few thousand off?
Your house will either be used for porn shoots, or a high-class drug lab.
